Privacy policy

In short. Pletyk has no accounts and no server that stores your data. Your words, progress and settings stay on your device. There are no ads, analytics or trackers. If you add your own AI key, requests go straight to the provider you chose.
Who we are
Pletyk is a spaced-repetition app for learning English vocabulary. This policy covers the Android app, its web version and the pletyk.app website. Questions: hello@pletyk.app.
What data the app holds and where
The app stores on your device:
- the words you add, with their translations, transcriptions and examples;
- your learning progress and review history (date, exercise, whether the answer was right);
- study time, your streak and streak freezes;
- settings: interface language, pace, reminder time, and your AI key if you entered one.
All of this lives in the app’s storage on your device and is not sent anywhere. We have no access to it.
AI features
AI is off until you enter a key for one of the providers: Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or another server whose address you provide. From then on, when you ask for an example sentence, the English word for a Ukrainian one, or a grammar exercise, the app sends the provider the request text: the word itself, its translation or the grammar topic, along with your key.
The request goes from your device straight to the provider, not through our server, and we never see it. How the provider handles requests is governed by its own terms:
Your AI key is stored only on your device and is not included in backups.
Dictionary, pronunciation, reminders
- The dictionary is built into the app and works offline. Lookups are not sent anywhere.
- Pronunciation uses your device’s system text-to-speech, according to your system settings.
- Reminders are scheduled locally on the device. The exact-alarm permission is used only so reminders arrive at the time you chose.
Backups and sharing
A backup or word list is created as a file only when you ask for it. You decide where to save it or whom to send it to. The share card is rendered on the device as an image and handed to the app you pick in the system share menu.
What there isn’t
- accounts or sign-up;
- ads;
- analytics, trackers or third-party data-collection SDKs;
- selling or sharing of data with third parties.
The pletyk.app website
The site is static: no cookies, analytics or forms. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which may keep technical request logs, including IP addresses, to protect against attacks, under its own policy.
Children
The app does not collect personal data, including children’s data.
Deleting your data
Uninstall the app or clear its data in Android settings, and everything is removed from the device. Backup files you saved separately are yours to delete.
Changes to this policy
If we add features that work through our own server (for example, sync between devices or AI without your own key), we will update this policy before they go live and change the date at the top of the page.
